In memory of Prof. Paulo S. Bretones
It is with great sorrow that that Paulo S. Bretones the co-founder of AEJ passed away in the morning of August 1st, 2023
Our deepest condolences to his wife and family.
May he rest in peace among the stars.
Paulo was indeed a great man and many of us who knew him well remember him as a very enthusiastic individual, and a deeply passionate researcher, educator, and communicator. Therefore, to honour Paulo’s memory, we would like to write an article in the Astronomy Education Journal (AEJ). The AEJ was one of Paulo’s legacies and contributions to astronomy education. This was established by Paulo and myself. We hope that this article will highlight Paulo’s significance and contributions as an ambassador for astronomy education, research, and outreach worldwide.
To do this, I invite you to write a short account of a memory that you shared with Paulo, and send it to: editoraej@astroedjournal.org and editorial@astroedjournal.org
We will compile your memories into an article and publish it in AEJ.
We would like to receive these texts by September 4th, 2023, if possible, to be able to process it in time for the next issue of the journal.
Kindest regards
Prof. Urban Eriksson,
Vice President for the IAU Commission C1 Astronomy Education and Development
Chair for the IAU working group for Astronomy Education Research and Methods
Editor for the International Astronomy Education Journal (AEJ)
